Wall mural for nursery

For this little boy’s nursery wall decoration, the parents had the idea to take inspiration from the old storybooks of Richard Scarry. I loved these as a kid and even though they didn’t stand the test of time, I knew that they are a great basis for a wall design.

The design process

The parents head some specific ideas about which animal does what, and they were sure that they needed a garbage truck for example. After I came up with a draft, we had some more back and forth until the design was finished.

Painting with the parents

While their baby boy was playing, we got to paint with the parents. They mostly took turns so that each could do their work, hang out with their son and also paint with me. Most of the colours were already fixed but we were able to mix some colours together. The result turned out really well but of course the verdict of the client (the little boy) was the most important. Here is the summary of the painting experience from the dad:

“Very talented, original and nice artist, highly recommend!

She did a cartoon on the wall of our nursery room, and the first words of my son included the animals on that picture, and one of his first conscious gestures was to wave back at sun on the picture (which is waving)!

Zsofi's approach is very professional, she wanted to understand what exactly we had in mind, and was happy to adjust the drafts to meet our requests. The creation of the drawing itself was a fun teamwork and the result is 3 sqm of unique and fun art!”
